The mission of the International Machine Design Association is to create a base for association and cooperation or exchange of knowledge in machine parts and mechanisms and related fields.
The association continues the more than sixty-three-year tradition, founded in 1960, of mutual cooperation of machine parts and mechanisms departments in the Czech Republic, the Slovak Republic and neighbouring countries.

The Chairman of the International Machine Design Association is the highest executive representative of the association, who is authorised to act for the association in all matters, in particular, to decide on matters related to the functioning of the association, including the disposition of its property, except for immovable property, to hire employees of the association, to terminate their employment, and to decide on all their employment matters.
Prof. Ing. Ladislav Ševčík, CSc. was elected the chairman of the International Machine Design Association for the period from September 2023 until August 2026.
A natural person over 18 years of age or a legal entity may be a member of the association. Membership in the association is based on the approval of an online application by the executive board, which decides on its admission at its next meeting.
An annual membership fee is 0 CZK for individual members and 10,000 CZK for legal entity members.
